Hungarian Pork Stew🇭🇺..

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Sauté the onions:

Heat the lard or oil in a heavy pot. Add chopped onions and sauté over medium heat until golden and soft (about 8–10 minutes).

2. Add garlic and paprika:

Remove from heat, add the garlic and paprika (to avoid burning), stir quickly.

3. Add pork:

Add the pork cubes immediately and return to heat. Stir to coat with the paprika-onion mixture. Sear meat on all sides.

4. Add veggies:

Add chopped tomato and green pepper. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Simmer:

Add just enough water to barely cover the meat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 1.5–2 hours, until pork is tender and sauce thickens. Add a bit more water if needed during cooking.

🥣 Serving Suggestions:

Serve hot with:

  • Nokedli (Hungarian dumplings) or
  • Boiled potatoes or
  • Galuska (egg noodles) or
  • Polenta or fresh crusty bread

Top with a dollop of sour cream if desired.

💡 Tip:

Add a splash of dry white wine for depth, or a spoonful of sour cream at the end for richness. For variation, mushrooms or potatoes can be added to the stew.
