Despite the German-sounding name, it’s a Hungarian childhood favorite, often called “naughty bread” or “mischief bread.” It was a clever way for grandmas and moms to use up leftover bread. Instead of throwing stale bread away, they transformed it into a sweet, comforting snack.
🇭🇺 Komisbrot (Hungarian “Naughty Bread”)
Ingredients:
- 6–8 slices of stale white bread (or leftover rolls)
- 2–3 tbsp butter (softened)
- 3–4 tbsp sugar (granulated or powdered)
- 1–2 tsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- A sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
