Hungarian Plum Dumplings (Szilvásgombóc)

Ingredients:

  • Dough
    • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes (starchy, boiled and peeled)
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
    • 1 pinch of salt
  • Filling
    • 12 fresh plums (small, ripe, but firm)
    • 12 sugar cubes (or 1 tsp sugar each)
    • Ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Coating
    • 1 cup (100 g) breadcrumbs
    • 3 tbsp butter
    • Powdered sugar, for serving
